C.1850 Restored Chesterfield Captains Armchair
We are delighted to offer for sale this lovely stunning fully restored hand carved Mahogany framed, early Victorian circa 1840-1850 Ships Captains armchair with cast iron heavily patinated base depicting Dolphins and newly upholstered Chesterfield tufted hand dyed brown leather seat

I have three of these chairs in stock, they all have the same top sections and seat bases, one has a slightly different base, this sale is for the chair mentioned above only with the other two being listed under my other items and not included in this sale
This chair is a good looking and well made original Victorian example, circa 1840-1850, the frame is Mahogany has been hand sawn and crafted, it has a hand painted Queen Victoria mural to the back rest sitting in the Regal position, on this chair the painting is patinated in places but its in the best condition of the three chairs. The base of the chair is painted black, it cast iron and it depicts three dolphins, these are not the dolphins as we know of them today, these are what sailors depicted dolphins as in the early 19th century
The chair has been restored as mentioned, the timber has been deep cleaned hand condition waxed and hand polished from top to bottom, it has all the period patination and looks exquisite, the seat base is original and it has all new upholstery and padding, it was stripped right back then rebuilt from the ground up using premium aniline Italia leather hide, aniline hide is plain and more expensive that pretreated hides, the leather was then hand dyed six times, antiqued, sealed, waxed down and polished, this was the traditional way of tanning leather
Condition wise, the chair has the original patina, it has a deep rich patina and looks sublime from every angle

We have long term storage which is very economically priced, we are happy to hold stock for as long as needed providing it is arranged prior to the purchase.
If sold items aren’t collected within three months and no arrangements have been made for long term storage you will forfeit the item and payment.

We prefer collection on all items from Wimbledon SW19-3BE, If you have your own courier or wish to book the collection in yourself we are happy to accommodate you.
