Bookseller/Stationers Label - 1845
Charles & Edwin Layton's Booksellers Bookplate Label of 1845.
Layton's of 150 Fleet Street, were Engravers, Printers, & Lithographers, as well as Booksellers and Stationers. They printed Valentine Cards to Type Specimen Books.
The Label has the copperplate hand written words 'Blackwood's Magazine - January 1845'. William Blackwood & Sons, Publishers, of 45 George Street, Edinburgh and 22 Pall Mall, London, published Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine, or 'Maga', as soon came to be called.
The label is printed letterpress, with copperplate handwriting. The label has the City of London Coats-of-Arms.
