Attractive Mahogany Wig Stand / Torchere
This lovely antique wig stand / torchere dates from the 1930s, but is older in style. It is constructed from mahogany, some solid, some venered. It is tall, with a shaped top and a triangular middle. The middle consists of two tiers, each supported on three turned columns. The top tier has an arched top and a carcellated lower gallery. In the between the tiers is a swing-out drawer with a brass handle. The lower tier has a shaped lower gallery. The piece is supported on three shaped swept legs.
Condition Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the piece is overall a little faded. There is some water staining to the top. There is an old repaired section to the top hinge of the swing-out drawer. There is some scuffing and knocking around the legs.
