Art Nouveau Perfume Bottle With Silver Overlay
Here we have a beautiful Art Nouveau Glass Perfume Bottle with Sterling Silver Overlay. The bottle has a bulbous base with a slender neck which opens out into a broad rim. The stopper has a spherical top. The silver overlay is in a typically Nouveau sinuous design surrounding roughly triangular cartouche. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
There is no makers' mark on the bottle but it is stamped Sterling Silver and is almost certainly American in origin. This style of bottle was hugely popular in the USA in the Art Nouveau era.
Condition is very good, with no chips or cracks in the glass and just two truly tiny dings in the top rim of the silver overlay. The stopper fits securely and is easy to remove and insert. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The perfume bottle is 10.2cm / 4ins high and 5.7cm / 2.2ins in diameter at its widest point. It weighs in at 102.1g / 3.6oz.
The bottom line of the silver overlay is stamped Sterling Silver alongside the product number D907.
