Art Deco Smiths Bakerlite Clock c1935

We have for sale a stunning art deco bakelite and Chrome Smith 8 day mantle antique clock.
This antique clock has a very striking art deco design consisting of a round two tone bakelite clock face with with a chromed edge extending to a two tone chocolate brown and cream oblong base. The face consists of an outer hour chapter in cream bakelite with chocolate brown bakelite Arabic numerals surrounding a chocolate brown bakelite centre from which extends a long thin minute hand and a shorter hour hand with a loop towards its tip, both in cream bakelite. The face and base are in an excellent condition with no damage. The hands are also in an excellent condition, although there is a small mark on the minute hand.
The eight day movement has just been serviced and is in an excellent condition, it is housed in its original black painted casing and is complete with its original Smiths signed winder. The back of the bakelite face is marked at the 12 0'clock position with Patent No 517819.
The clock is 7 inches (17.8cm) high, 8 inches (20.3cm) long and 2 & 3/4 inches (7cm) wide. The clock is in an excellent deco condition and is being offered for sale with a 6 month warranty.
Note About Antique & Vintage Mechanical Clocks
Mechanical antique clocks by nature are not as accurate as modern quartz antique clocks. Time keeping can be dependent on a range of variables including changes in temperature. If looking for a time piece that is accurate to the second it is better not to have a mechanical clock. However, if a little bit of variability in timing (up to +/- a minute or so a day) is acceptable, mechanical clocks add a presence to a room, not just because of their styling but also because of a lovely reassuring background tick.
