Here is an example of a good quality antique Art Deco highly figured walnut single door two-piece wardrobe, circa 1930. The wardrobe features a classically styled cloud shaped cornice and triple vertical reeded front corners. The two doors are highly figured with a stunning walnut veneer. The right hand door is opened using a sprung push button, flanked by the original deep red bakelite handles. There is also a working lock and key to the door. The left hand door features two latches, which keep the door closed whilst the right hand door is open. Inside the wardrobe are four-quarter circle internal shelves to the right. To the left, is a metal telescopic extending hanging rail, which extends outwards so that you can easily hang your clothes on the rail. On the inside of the right door is a metal hanging rail. Below the drawers, there is a protruding moulded section. Below are two large hand dovetailed oak lined drawers, which also feature the original bakelite handles. The wardrobe sits on four slim protruding bracket feet and features solid backboards.
The wardrobe boasts classic art deco styling and would be at home in any traditional or contemporary setting and consumes very little space. As the wardrobe splits into two sections, it easy to transport and lift up the stairs into the bedroom.
This wardrobe features a rich brown figured walnut colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a good colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

Condition This wardrobe is in good original condition this is what gives doors their lovely patination and colour. Nominal old use marks / wear to the leading edges and sides but nothing significant considering the age of the item (see photos). The oak lined drawers are smooth running and close flush to the frame. The wardrobe features its original bakelite handles, working door lock and key. Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
