Antique Large Vienna Handpainted Plaque with a scene from Othello by William Shakespeare.

Painted about 1870/ 1880 this is an exquisite example of Vienna Porcelain. Signed F.Forster in the lower right hand side of the plaque. F. Forster was better known as Alexandre Forster. The plaque is circular in shape and the painting covers the majority of the surface apart from a maroon coloured border with gold leaf design and jewelled edge. The quality of the painting on this plaque is superb and the colours are still rich and vibrant.

The back of the plaque has the beehive symbol and the name 'Othello'. There is also a number 175.

Measures: 19" diameter (48.3 cm).
