This is an antique side table. A Scottish, oak console table with heavily carved Gothic revival taste, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1880.

Superb example of Scottish Gothic revival taste with enthusiastic carved decoration
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Select oak resplendent in dark hues with fine grain interest
Good consistent colour throughout to the wax polish finish

Elaborate foliate carving to the low up stand, with striking lion masque to centre
Generous top surface decorated with a chased edge
Shoulders bear prominent foliate wreathes with carved rhombus to outside edge
Inset drawers to apron with fascinating lion masque pulls

Aprons present field panels with foliate carved scenes
Front knees distinguished with carved bulbs, crafted with demi-lune patera
Gently tapering and reeded cylindrical legs to front stand upon acanthus carved bun feet
Rear, square section legs with eye-catching frieze patterns terminate in block feet

This is a highly decorative antique side table, with superb carved detail and strong gothic overtones. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
