Antique Minerva pocket watch, Middlesbrough
Antique Minerva pocket watch, Middlesbrough.
The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement, identified as by Minerva, which is working nicely. This is a good quality movement with a swan neck regulator, screw-set jewels and Breguet hairspring. It is all protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is the gold filled Moon model from the Birmingham case maker Aaron Dennison. The company supplied cases for various watch makers. The case is in good condition, just some surface scratches to the back but not too detrimental.
The glass lens has small marks across it but not too detrimental at all.
The dial is signed, “Adjusted” and it has the name of the original retailer, William Pepper of Middlesbrough. The dial has a faint hairline running from number 10 towards the sub seconds dial.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
