A rare and exquisitely carved antique antique side table, probably made in Northern Italy, Switzerland, Austria, or somewhere in that region. It’s slightly reminiscent of Black Forest antique furniture, but with much finer details & it’s all original. Difficult to date exactly, but I would estimate it’s from around the 1850-80’s period, although it could be earlier.

This is one of the finest examples we have ever come across, it is of absolutely superb quality. The base depicts a small boy climbing up a tree, the details are stunning, right down to the expression on the boys face. The top is finely made with an inlaid geometric design, and a finely carved edge depicting acorns and leaves.

The base is probably carved from oak or walnut, with the top being made from various different woods.

We have had this restored and re-polished, it is in lovely condition for its age.
