Antique French Burr Elm Commode Chest of Drawers (Louis Philippe)

This attractive chest of drawers features a free-standing variegated marble top with a moulded outer edge.

Sitting below the top are four drawers, the top one being contained within the shaped frieze.

All the drawers are constructed in chestnut with dovetail joints and veneered to the fronts with book-matched burr elm veneer.

The key hole escutcheons are all made of turned wood.

Three of the drawers have working locks and there is one key. One lock is missing but the drawer is functional.

This chest of drawers is of solid construction throughout and in excellent condition.

There are some signs of historic worm that has been treated and is long since gone.

This piece has been through our workshops, where it has been checked, cleaned and waxed ready to place in the home.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Pyrontique is run by Derek Connor and Bea White, who are primarily online dealers of French and European antiques and unique decorative objets d'art supplying trade and private clients worldwide. Drawing on our inspiration of high quality, design-led and unique pieces, our ranges will be centering in 2019 on classic French antique furniture, Art Deco sculptures and furniture and more unique individual pieces, dating from early French antiques up to modern day contemporary pieces.

As with all antiques, there may be small normal signs of wear & tear due to the age of a piece and its history. We aim to describe our pieces accurately - please ask for more description and photos if you would like more information.

Every piece is checked by our qualified restorer with many years of extensive experience in a variety of settings. Some pieces occasionally have signs of historic old woodworm (which has long since disappeared, hence the holes) as is common with old French furniture. Any pieces with evidence of historic worm are always treated as a precautionary measure and subsequently cleaned and waxed when needed.

The wiring on electrical pieces is usually original (unless stated in the description) and we recommend that each piece is checked and fitted by a qualified electrician at installation.
