ANTIQUE DIGITAL WALL CLOCK -Pallwebbers patent
Having had the privilege to own many top quality Vienna wall antique clocks over the last 35 years this is one of the rarest types I have every encounted nor have I seen similar examples in books for sale in the auction houses.
? It is the mechanism which makes this antique clock very desirable as it operates under patent number 366 which Josef Pallweber obtained in 1883 and concerns his designs on a mechanical clock with a digital dial. Please note that this clock should not be confused with the type using tape rolls.
?Pallwebers patent was used successfully in watches and these examples command very high prices indeed . This clock is more difficult to value as I cannot find any examples to compare it to !
The 8 inch square silvered dial shows hours at the normal 12 o'clock position and hours underneath . The outer ring shows seconds which are indicated by the sweep second hand. The 8 day spring driven timepiece movement is of excellent quality having solid plates and pinions, dead beat escapement with solid pallets . It is stamped Patent Pallweber Patent 366 .The movement is in full working order having been professionally restored.
?The walnut veneered case has a lovely colour and retains its original wood pediment. The pendulum is a brass and ebonised wooden rod.
? The door of the clock has very nice carving and an aperture to display the swinging pendulum bob.

The overall condition is outstanding being original and well looked after.
There is ,of course,the odd age related mark as you would expect on any item of this age but the condition is a good as anyone could possibly expect. I should point out that the dial has discolored a little but this can be completed at the buyers request .The raised white numbers have chipped in parts and have been touched in by a prior custodian.
The sides of the case are glazed

This clock is much nicer in the flesh and looks very impressive on the wall.Prospective buyers are encouraged to view this clock if at at possible
It is 50 inches in length (from the very bottom finial to the centre of the pediment) .The widest part is 18 4/4 inches wide.The maximum depth is 7 1/2 inches.
If the asking price is paid in full then I will have the movement professionally serviced deliver and set up the clock free of charge to the English mainland,Wales and the Scottish lowlands.I will also provide a 12 months guarantee under these circumstances.This is the same service that is provided by a high street retailer without the customer having to pay for the overheads
