This is a beautiful hand-painted hardwood Qu'ran or Koran stand, possibly Syrian c.1900. The upper halves of each element are scallop pierced with floral-design borders whereas the lower halves are decorated with a flowing floral pattern picked out in gold with intervening areas in cream-coloured enamel.

This is a decorative item in its own right which can be closed and displayed against a wall, or opened to hold a precious book or prints.

Condition: The stand is in very good antique condition with some minor chipping of the painted decoration particularly on the edges.
