This is an antique console table. A large, Scottish walnut and oak desk or hall table by J & T Scott of Edinburgh, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1880.

Quality Scottish oak matching the appeal with rich caramel hues
Gently rolled edge with tiered surface
Deep aprons afford generous views of the oak stocks
Striking drawer fronts inlaid with Belgian marble and finished with cock-beading
Dressed with fluted bar pulls over Art Nouveau back plates, decorated with foliate motif
Drawer boxes of appreciable thickness with dovetail joints and wonderful, natural grain
Maker's stamp to drawers reads 'J & T Scott, 10 George St, Edinburgh'
Tapered legs of square sections and showing wisps of medullary rays
Stands upon a quartet of tapered block feet, further enhancing suitability for central room placement
