Anglo-Japanese Aesthetic Rosewood Armchair
Very decorative Aesthetic Movement rosewood armchair in the 'Anglo-Japanese' style and dating to the 1870s. The open padded back features an arched crest with carved sunburst and additional carved decoration along the inner padded panel. The sloping padded arms rest on trellis splats. The sprung overstuffed low (28cm high) but deep seat, is raised on square reeded tapering forelegs with carved stylised narcissus motifs, and end in brass castors. The armchair is fully traditionally re-upholstered by The Sitting Place. The characteristics of this armchair are in the style of Edward William Godwin. For this reason the armchair is finished off in Bamboo fabric by Morris & co in thyme/artichoke colourway. This Japanese inspired fabric was adapted from a design by Godwin himself. This is a very attractive and high quality armchair, which due to its seat height, would look best in a bedroom setting but may also be placed in a lounge/ living room setting. Table and accessories are for display purposes only.
Where applicable, our upholstered items of stock are fully newly traditionally re-upholstered in-house using only traditional materials and no foam so as to be in-keeping with the age of the piece as an antique.

Condition Overall in good original condition, lovely graining of the rosewood with great patina, scuffs commensurate with past use and age, some knocks to the show wood. There is a very well made and neat repair to one rear leg more photos may be provided upon request of this repair.

Returns policy
There is a right to cancel an order from the moment the order is placed to The Sitting Place up to 14 days from the day the item is delivered/received. In the unlikely event that the customer/buyer is not pleased with a purchase made from The Sitting Place, the item in question may be returned. Notification of a return to The Sitting Place is to be made by the customer by email or by phone on +44(0)7341770324.
The item needs to be returned within a further 14 days to The Sitting Place and in the condition the item was received and suitable for re-sale. The customer is to take reasonable care and ensure that the item is well protected when returning the item. The customer is informed that a deduction of the refund will be made to cover for delivery cost to complete the return of the item(s) (unless otherwise agreed). A further reduction of the refund can be made by The Sitting Place if the value of the item has been reduced as a result of the customer handling the item more than was necessary or as a result of the item being soiled and/or damaged.
The return of the item will be arranged by The Sitting Place. Refunds will be made to the customer/buyer, within 14 days of The Sitting Place receiving the returned item(s). Returns cannot be made for items purchased from outside the United Kingdom.
