Anglo-Indian carved hardwood occasional table
Fine antique Anglo-Indian profusely carved hardwood occasional table dating from the Late 19th Century
The general shape of the top is based on a square.
An undecorated central panel is surrounded by a wide border carved in low relief with a floral design of interweaving stems and with grape vines in high relief on the corners.
Top has a moulded edge carved with a snake skin pattern.
The folding base comprising four legs is again carved with a similar floral design to the top surrounding pierced and carved trilobate panels depicting grape vines.
The quality of the carving is exceptional.
Top comes off and the base folds for easy storage. It makes a very stable surface when put together.
The top has more usable surface than you would first predict as only the grape vines in high relief do not provide a flat surface.
Dimensions: Top 23" x 23" (58 x 58cm) Height 24" (61cm)
Condition: Very good condition with an attractive colour & patina. There is a dark ring stain in the centre of the table and a small nick in the wood on one of the corners on the top. However, the carving is intact throughout.
Delivery: This table is compact enough when taken apart to send by courier.
