An Outstanding 19thC Welsh Love Spoon Lovespoon
A rare and very pretty mid 19thC antique hand carved sycamore wood Love Spoon of unique and highly desirable form. The handle and stem of the spoon in the form of an arm with fully frilled sleeve of a blouse or shirt with detailed hand grasping the stem. Complete with initials S.T. c1860
Being of such a special form we have only seen one or two spoons over the years with some shared characteristics in museum collections and specialist publications but this is without doubt one of the nicest and most generously sized examples we have ever seen. Displaying lovely mellow colour and surface from handling and age. Exceptional condition and a really special example throughout with just a couple of small chips to the tip of the handle to mention (a rare and near perfect piece). A truly lovely and unique spoon that would grace any collection.
