Aesthetic Movement side table c1875

AESTHETIC MOVEMENT SIDE TABLE
This is an Aesthetic Movement side table c1875. It is raised on ornatley turned supports with the quintessential quandrant supports to each end of the table. the top has an exaggerated top to encompass the end quandrant supports. It is picked out with gilding and is a very striking table. After the opening of the Japanese borders and trade with Japan in the early 1860s after being closed off for 300 hundred years Europe could not get enough of Japan and everything went Japanism. The leading light of the Aesthetic movement was William Godwin the designer. A great table.
