A Welsh Sampler
A charming large sampler, worked by Saran Jonesaged 15 years
There is a note to the rear of the sampler that tells us that Sarah was the daughter of a Ships Captain from Pencader. He sailed from Newquay and Aberaeron.
The sampler features a glorious blue rigged ship, together with an English alphabert.
The Welsh panel is mysterious, spelling mistakes along with the words joined together.
"dysgimdyfforddarglwyddacaarwainfiarhydllwybrauuiondnboharwyddfyngelynion"
The English translation being:
Teach me your way, O Lord
lead me in a straight path, beacause of my oppressors.
Psalm 27 Verse 11.
Framed in a maple frame witha gilt slip.
