An early Victorian Egyptian-esque mantel antique clock. A high quality English single fusee mechanism of 8-day duration to the two tone gilt dial with fine blued steel hands. A high quality polished slate case surmounted by a well cast sphinx in bronze. Egyptian engraving to the tapered side columns. Signed to the dial 'BARRAUD & LUND CORNHILL LONDON'.

Barraud and the later partnership with Lund (1839-1863) were noted fine watch, antique clock and chronometer makers.
