A fine table by Collinson & Lock

In beautiful selected Coromandel with boxwood stringing, the table is raised on very fine square tapered legs with spade toes, it is stamped on the underside Collinson & Lock London. 730mm high, 660mm wide and 430mm deep. Circa 1870
The firm Collinson & Lock was founded in the late 19th century by F.G. Collinson and G.J. Lock, both of whom were former employees of Jackson & Graham.
The company manufactured antique furniture for the likes of the Savoy Theatre and the new Law Courts, and a variety of their furniture items were featured at the Paris Exposition Universelle exhibit in 1878. Some of the many furniture designers who were employed by the firm include E. W. Godwin (who was paid a retainer to produce designs for the company from 1872 and 1874), T.E. Colcutt, Stephen Webb, H.W. Batley, and many more. W J Gravener Antiques is a family owned business, started in 1963 by William who was joined by son, Mark in 1981 and continues today with the same ethos of dealing in fine quality English and Continental furniture, mirrors and decorative objects, from the 18th & 19th centuries. Now under the stewardship of Mark and his wife, Louise, we take pride in maintaining the high standards which William set more than 50 years ago.
