A Dorset Longcase Clock by T. Farnham, Bridport
A good quality late Georgian Dorset moon phase longcase clock. A swan neck hood pediment surmounted by a brass finial. Brass capped hood side columns and a fluted hood pediment. Fine casework with banded inlays to the choice grain oak case. Champfered trunk sides in mahogany. An arched painted dial with lunar moon phases to the arch and flowers to the corners. A date aperture and seconds dial. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell. Circa. 1810.
The Farnham family of clockmakers are well documented in Tribe & Whatmoor's' 'Dorset Clocks and Clockmakers' book. They worked in West Street, Bridport and also at Beaminster and Lyme Regis.
