A Longcase Clock by Nicholas Blondel, Guernsey
A rare Channel Islands, Guernsey Georgian period longcase clock. A fine mahogany case with inlays. An arched hood pediment surmounted by 3 brass ball finials and a banded marquetry inlay. Side glass hood apertures and Corinthian capped hood columns. An arched trunk door with fan inlays. A swan to the base panel with banded inlaid edges. A brass and silvered dial with strike/silent to the arch with seconds and a date aperture. Engraved to the chapter ring 'N Blondel a Guernesey'. A high quality 5 pillar London type mechanism striking the hours on a bell.
Nicholas Blondel is recorded in Loomes 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World' book as working in Paris and Guernsey from 1743-1789.
