1st Ed. Winnie the Pooh & House at Pooh Corner
Winnie the Pooh & The House at Pooh Corner
By A. A. Milne
Both published by Methuen & Co, London 1926 & 1928
Both are First Editions & First Printings
Hardbacks in the original publisher's cloth binding, both with the original First Edition dust jackets but both are Second State Jackets with Winnie the Pooh stating 129th Thousand instead of 117th Thousand for the advert of When we were Very Young to rear inner flap.
The House at Pooh Corner has 189th Thousand instead of 179th & 105th Thousand instead of 96th Thousand to adverts on rear inner flap of jacket, this being the only difference between First & Second State Jackets.
Original illustrated endpapers, numerous illustrations by Ernest H. Shepard that are full page or among text
Each book measures approx 8 x 5 inches
Condition of the Winnie the Pooh has some surface abrasions to top front of dust jacket [see image] very slight browning to spine of jacket, corners lightly bumped, an indentation of approx 1 inch to cloth spine with cloth spine slightly darkened to blue, front hinge cocked very slightly forward, very slight browning to endpapers matching up to the inner flaps to jacket suggesting that this jacket is original to this copy, two small names written to half title with date of nov 27-26, overall a lovely copy with no loss to jacket, pages very clean & with no restoration to jacket or book.
Condition of the house at pooh corner has some minor edge wear to jacket with chipping at top & bottom of spine on jacket & small closed tear to top front edge, few minor marks to jacket, spine & edges of boards slightly faded, endpapers browned. Overall a very good plus copy in a very good jacket.
Please note that the jackets have a clear removable cover that may show some reflections or wrinkles in images.
