19thc Oil Painting on Copper of Dutch Tavern Scene
Early 19thc Dutch Tavern Scene painted in oils on copper and presented in the original gesso gilt frame.
The quality and detail is excellent,with the oils still being bright and vibrant,depicting two jolly
gentlemen drinking and encouaging a young lady to become intoxicated.
CONDITION
The condition is excellent as the painting had previously been framed under glass,later having been removed.
FRAME
The frame has had a few good repairs and is solid and looks fine now after recent work and a little regilding.
(Image 6 shows the professinal repairs prior to regilding)
Painted by a talented artist who has obviously specialised in genre scenes and has captured the atmosphere and characters very well.
