Dating from the late 19th century and having a metal address label for Hennefeld I, Vaczi-Karut 47, Budapest.
The box is made from pine and has it's original painted finish which we have scrubbed, washed and waxed.
The front is paneled and it sits on short legs.
The interior is lead lined, some holes in the lining but to be expected given its age.
The original paintwork is a grey/green colour and is on trend chippy showing the pine underneath in places.

Good solid condition, no loose joints and no sign of worm.
The hinges appear to have been repaired at sometime but solid.

We googled Hennefeld I and came across a gentleman called Ignaz Hennefeld who lived in Budapest between 1831 and 1891, maybe it was his box?
Lead lined boxes were commonly used to store food, tea etc in the 19th century.
