This exquisite and elegant French Kingwood and mahogany Bonheur Du Jour, or ‘daytime delight’ is a type of lady’s writing desk and features detailed ormolu mounts, a pierced gallery around the top and long tapered square legs with brass caps. The writing desk has a fold out writing surface, covered with green baize, as well as 2 shallow top drawers above it and a larger one below. The top cabinet has glass doors and a central shelf with cross banding and parquetry thru out. The piece measures 31 ½ in – 80 cm wide, 16 ¼ in – 41.3 cm deep and 51 ½ in – 129.5 cm high, with an additional 6 ½ in – 16.5 cm depth when the writing surface is folded out.
