19th Century Egyptian revival pair dining chairs Egyptian revival 19th Century Mahogany %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
An exquisite, rare pair of early to mid-19th century Egyptian Revival dining chairs. The chairs are mahogany veneered with an ebonised moulded rim around the edges of the backrest. The seats and bottom part of the backrests are upholstered in vintage burgundy velvet fabric with brass studded trimming. Each chair's top part of the backrest has a beautifully hand-carved gilt pair of sitting sphinxes facing each other with an ebonised background. These unique pieces do not come on the market very often.

Condition: The chairs are in very good order for their age. There are a few age related marks on the veneer and a small earlier veneer repair on the top of one top rail. Structurally excellent and solid. Overall fantastic for thieir age.
