19th Century Anglo- Indian Burmese Rosewood Desk
An exceptional 19th-century Anglo-Indian desk masterfully hand-carved from rich hardwood, featuring intricate floral and avian motifs throughout. The craftsmanship displays remarkable depth and detail, with stylized birds forming the supports and an elaborate pierced foliate design across the front and sides. The desk’s top is leather-covered, adding a refined contrast to the dark wood, and it cleverly conceals multiple drawers and hidden compartments—hallmarks of fine 19th-century cabinetry. Though it shows minor damage and a few missing elements consistent with age, the piece remains solid, stable, and highly presentable. It can be appreciated and used as is, or it would make an exceptional candidate for light restoration to return it to its full original glory.
