19th / 20th Century Continental Silver Napkin Holder
A must for every pasta or seafood lover! Napkin-holders are in general use all over Europe and you sometimes see antique examples with English hallmarks showing that the English upper classes made use of them,
The hook goes over the collar or through the top button-hole, then the napkin is inserted between the jaws and the ring lowered to grip it.
A silver, slide-action napkin-holder, with scroll and flower-motif decoration to both sides of cast-silver grip. Unmarked, but tests as fine silver - 900 or more parts per thousand. Late 19th or early 20th Century, probably French or Italian. 38x10mm.
Excellent condition.
I trade in small silver, jewellery and objets d'art. I sell primarily at antiques fairs and in cabinets in Christique Antique Centre in Dorking. I try to find unusual and interesting stock and like to keep turning it over, so I can buy more. Postage and packing are free within the UK - unless explicitly stated otherwise.
