1930s RAF Sterling Silver Cigarette Case
This is a beautiful piece of history. It’s a Sterling Silver Cigarette Case from the late 1930s. It has the Royal Air Force emblem on the lid and it’s a great collector’s item for someone interested in RAF memorabilia.
It was made by Alexander Clark & Co Ltd and it was Hallmarked in Birmingham in 1938.
It’s a good size case which fits business cards and credit cards neatly in the lid.
The exterior has an engineered pattern with the RAF emblem on the lid. The hinge and clasp work well.
The interior is gilded. It has Hallmarks on both the inside of the lid and the base. On the inside of the lid it has engraved ‘Vernon C Rayner. 10th March 1940’ which adds to it’s historical charm. It also has a blue elastic strap to hold contents in place.
There are a number of small dints to the exterior and some tarnish within the pattern. Overall it’s in good condition.
It weighs 111.6g.
It measures 9.1cm by 8.8cm (3 5/8 inches by just under 3 1/2 inches). The depth is 1cm (3/8 inch).
