1920s Cyma full hunter pocket watch
1920s Cyma full hunter pocket watch originally retailed by M.Harrison & Son, Liverpool.
The watch has a nicely jewelled Swiss stem-winding movement , identified as a Cyma calibre 998, which is working nicely. The movement is stamped 15 jewels, Swiss made. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
Cyma was founded by two brothers, Joseph and Theodore Schwob, in 1862. In 1892 they decided to go into partnership with Frédéric Henri Sandoz, owner of Henri Sandoz et Cie. The Cyma name was officially registered in 1903. Sandoz used the most modern of manufacturing processes and produced very high quality time-pieces, trademarked as Tavannes, Cyma and Cyma Tavannes. Their excellent reputation for quality meant that by 1910, Tavannes / Cyma were one of the largest Swiss watch manufacturers in existence. State, or Stayte, was one of the brand names used by the company.
The watch measures 50.8mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the loop. The case is gold plated and was made by the Illinois Watch Case Company. The case light surface marking from use and some mild wear to the back but overall it is in nice condition for a 1920s piece.
The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is a glass lens which is in nice condition.
The dial is signed M. Harrison & Son, Liverpool. The dial is in nice condition.
The watch has its original blued steel hands.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
