18th Century French Walnut Commode
An 18th Century French Walnut Commode with Marble Top

Made in the Louis XVI period, this fine piece of French walnut antique furniture, is highlighted by ormolu drawer mounts and original drop bar handles. The rounded pilasters to the sides of the drawers are stop-fluted. The sides are panelled and mounted with further ormolu. Standing on long, tapering toupee feet with ormolu toes. The original marble top has tones of red, yellow and white on a grey background, and conforms to the shape below, with an edge moulding around the sides and front. The commode retains its original key with interesting quatrefoil-shaped post.

A lovely colour and with a good patination.
