Description:
This is a fine quality antique English 17th Century style solid oak refectory table, measuring 8ft long, which seats up to 10 people, circa 1970, in excellent original condition. The English oak table top boasts a stunning top, comprising three solid oak 1½ inch planks with cleated ends, displaying a 17th century farmhouse design. The oak refectory table has been constructed in the traditional manner with mortise and tenon joints, and then pegged, with a straight frieze each side. The 17th century table is raised on baluster turned legs, on block feet, which are united by a central stretcher along the length of the table, and a further stretcher to each end. The solid oak table top boasts a lovely colour & grain configuration, having been cleaned and French polished in our workshop, to a professional standard. The oak refectory table will seat up to 10 people, or 8 people with plenty of room (please see photos with chairs around the table). Benefitting from a central stretcher, it allows you to conveniently place kitchen chairs under the table, without any restrictions, unlike earlier antique tables that have stretchers positioned on the outside of the legs, which prevents you placing the chairs under the table. It is also sufficiently tall enough to fit your legs underneath and is sufficiently wide at 3ft, to accommodate serving dishes in the centre of the table. The oak refectory table also boasts a generous over-hang each end of the table, allowing plenty of space for armchairs. The oak refectory table dismantles into 2 sections (tabletop & frame), facilitating easier lifting and carrying into the home.

The oak kitchen table has been cleaned and French polished in our workshop, to a professional standard, therefore the top has an excellent finish, with no cup marks or stains to the table top. Nominal old use marks to the top and leading edges of the frame, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. Slight undulation to the top, given the length and width of the planks, this is not un-common. This oak refectory table is heavy and solid in joint, which is always a sign of good quality.

We offer free delivery to mainland England, Wales, and Southern Scotland (anywhere south of Stirling). We do not offer free delivery to locations north of Stirling in Scotland, Northern Ireland, or any British Islands off the mainland for example, the Isle of Man, Isle of White and Channel Islands. If you live in one of the areas where we do not offer free delivery, please contact us for a delivery quote before purchasing the item. Delivery will be made by our specialised antique furniture delivery service, or in some cases we will use a courier service for distant deliveries.
Delivery times are usually 1-4 weeks depending on location we aim to deliver the majority of items within 2 weeks. All items are professionally packaged and fully insured in transit, therefore, we can assure you, your items will be securely protected in transit and arrive safely with you.
Once you have purchased an item, we will contact you by email and/or telephone and provide you with a provisional delivery date, in order for you to confirm if it is suitable for you. Once you have confirmed you can accept delivery on the provisional delivery date, we will book the delivery in with our shippers and it then becomes a confirmed delivery date.
