Walnut Display Cabinet / Bookcase. Early Georgian.
This is a fine English Georgian Walnut Display Cabinet. It dates to the first half of the 18th Century - about 1720.
The upper part has 2 glazed panelled doors, each with 6 rectangular panes of glass, many of which are original. The glazing bars are faced in half round cross grain sections of walnut.
The cabinet is fitted with deep adjustable shelves, ideal for displaying porcelain, or silver as well as books. Each shelf is faced with half round walnut mouldings and there is a groove at the back for standing plates.
The lower cabinet doors have raised fielded panels and enclose a cupboard with an adjustable full depth shelf.
Well chosen figured walnut veneers on oak throughout.
A single key works the locks to both the upper and lower doors
Presented in carefully restored condition. A full condition report can be given on request.
