Signed near the bottom corner by the known Scottish artist James Downie Robertson and also inscribed by the artist verso.
Circa late 20th century dated mid 1990's.
Set in the original frame.
A good display size with the frame being 59.5 cm wide and 61 cm high & 1.5 cm in depth.
Your first notice about this painting is the bright moon which illuminates the beach & sea & has such interesting perspective. You can really feel the peace and tranquility in this scene. The different blue, black, white, grey & yelllow hues are so vivid and and really stand out which you will adore.
In our opinion this is one of his very fine works.
Artist biography James D Robertson, MBE (2 November 1931 – 7 January 2010) was a Scottish Postwar & contemporary artist painter and senior lecturer at the Glasgow School of Art. He played an influential role in the Scottish visual arts scene for nearly five decades. James Downie Robertson was born in Cowdenbeath in 1931, one of twin boys. His family moved to Glasgow at the start of the Second World War and he attended Hillhead High School. He then studied at the Glasgow School of Art (GSA) under the redoubtable David Donaldson and Joan Eardley. Graduating in 1953, Robertson spent some time in Spain but later accepted a teaching post at Keith Grammar School from 1957 to 1958.
He entered the Glasgow School of Art in 1949 on a non-diploma course. In 1955, he was awarded a post-diploma and spent the summer of that year at Hospitalfield. After leaving the Glasgow School of Art he spent 18 months as a non-certified teacher at Keith Grammar school. In 1959 he joined the staff of the Glasgow School of Art initially on a part-time basis, ultimately becoming a Senior Lecturer and temporary Head of Drawing and Painting before his retirement in 1996. From 1996 to 1998, he held the post of resident painter at the Glasgow School of Art. His work is held many public and private collections including Prince Philip and The Queen Mother. He died on 7 January 2010 after a short illness.
In October 2010 a memorial exhibition was held at the Glasgow Art Club. His artworks have sold at auction houses around the world the highest sold price was $15478 US dollars which was for Winter Landscape that sold at Christie’s.

Goods can be bought by either International bank wire transfer or domestic BACS payment we can email you an invoice together with our banking instructions. Cash upon collection is also accepted. Following the UK leaving the EU on 1st January 2021 (BREXIT) there have been some changes to customs & duty charges for EU customers. Tax and import duty varies from country to country so we recommend you check with your local tax office to see if any fees will be payable.
If the customer refuses to pay any duty and customs charges and the parcel is returned to sender all shipping charges will be deducted from any refund.

Returns are accepted within 14 days of receipt. The buyer is solely responsible for paying the entire costs of the outbound & return shipping costs also any import costs & duty taxes due. Return authorisation should be requested by sending an email before posting. Once we receive the item in good order as supplied not withstanding notified transit damage, we will return partial refund payment using the same payment method less our shipping costs.
