This lovely letter opener and scissors set has no maker's marks or labels. We would estimate it to date from the early twentieth century, although it may be earlier. The letter opener has engraved decoration to the top of butterflies and folige. Both the scissors and the letter opener have what appears to be thin blue enamel decoration applied to the top. The lined letter case has a metal base, but appears to be missing a metal collar at the top.

Condition: Overall in fair-good condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. The metalware is tarnished and worn with some corrosion in places. The plating is worn away from the scissor handles in particular. The letter opener and the scissors have some wear around the edges. The case is worn and appears to be missing its metal collar around the top. It has some surface corrosion.

Letter opener - 24.5cm long
