Large Turkish or Anatolian carpet c.1980. 66″ x 104″ hand knotted with a striking design featuring an eight pointed star at the centre and various traditional motifs including stylized flowers (or tree of life) within a double border of protective hooks and snakes. The patterns in Turkish carpets are fascinating with each motif having a symbolic meaning. In muted natural colours and soft wool with a short pile (unlike the flat woven surface of a kilim). Very good condition.
