Iranian Bronze-age pottery jar decorated with snake
A wide rimmed squat terracotta jar, decorated around the upper body with a snake in black paint between parallel bands of black. The vessel has a convex base.
Bronze-Age Iran: Circa 2000-1500 BC.
Very Fine condition complete and intact, the decoration a little eroded in places.
Diameter at rim 14.4 cms (5.7 ins)
Provenance: From a late Japanese gentleman's collection, 1970s-2010s.
(Compare Lot 29 Christie's sale 6 Jul 2016 for a larger jar with similar decoration). All our items are supplied with an illustrated certificate of authenticity (COA) which will act as as a guarantee that all items are authentic and dated to the period stated.
