Antique civil war 1861 confederate Bowie knife , I believe this was made by Tomas Griswold & co of New Orleans , Griswold was known as one of the finest sword makers in the South and provided the confederate army with superior edged weapons ( as the union had superior fire power)
The blade is stunningly huge on the piece measuring 12 inches the overall length on the Bowie is 18 inches ,the knife is not maker named anywhere I can see but that is quite common with these , it also has the very rare leather scabbard although quite fragile at the end ,
