This is an antique desktop writing slope. An English, burr walnut and brass correspondence box, dating to the mid Victorian period, circa 1860.
An attractive and delightfully appointed slope for the desktop
Displays a desirable aged patina and in very good condition
Striking burr walnut stocks present superb grain interest
Rich caramel hues dance beneath a wax polish finish
Domed stationery compartment dressed with a brass twist latch escutcheon — key present
Turning the key operates the domed lid and releases the fold-out writing slope
Within the stationery compartment, a pair of smaller compartments flank a quintet of small document sleeves
Two delightful glass ink wells sit neatly within a brass square mount
Striking indigo coloured velvet writing slope embossed with a superb pattern
Upper section of the slope opens, revealing a recessed pair of document slides
