A very unusual bronze censer from Lanka ( later called Ceylon by the British and then Sri (new) Lanka of a censor being carried by monkeys. The story says that Sita Ma, wife of Rama was captured by Ravana and held captive at a Hindu temple called Ashok Vatika in Lanka. Rama pleaded for someone to rescue her and the monkeys agreed to do so. Thought to be mid 19th century and in good condition for its age.
