A lovely sized Ebonised Georgian Bracket Clock by John Bannister of London c1750
The well proportioned case measuring 46cm high and 27cm wide is smaller than the usual antique clocks of this type and looks all the better for it. The case having fine gilt ormolu to the corners, top of the door and bell top. Each corner finished with a fine pineapple finial. The glazed sides with two viewing windows displays the original verge escapement movement beautifully.
The five knopped pillar movement has been fully overhauled by me personally and comes with a full three year guarantee for your peace of mind. The beautifully engraved backplate displaying a symmetrical floral pattern and oriental inspired scene of a building. The movement strikes the hour on a single bell and features a pull repeat lever with the cord exiting the case via the base.
The finely matted dial with fine ormolu spandrels displays a strike-silent subsidiary dial to the arch. A separate cartouche with the name John Bannister London above the centre dialworks.
