This is superb quality antique Scottish Regency 8 day George III mahogany inlaid grandfather antique clock, circa 1790 - 1820.

This is superb quality antique Scottish Regency 8 day George III mahogany inlaid grandfather clock, circa 1790 - 1820. This antique clock was built by John Bryson of Dalkeith, Mid Lothian (south east of Edinburgh) in Scotland. The Bryson families were prolific makers of long case antique clocks, watches and indeed wall antique clocks. They are noted for making high quality Regulators. It has an 8 day mechanism in working order which keeps good time. The clock features the original moon painted face, striking movement, working second and month hand. The clock boasts double reeded columns to the hood, an original painted arch and three brass finials. The face is original and shows the superb craftsmanship with double globes and original ¼ spandrels. The long case features mellow flame mahogany (note the symmetrical mahogany veneer) surrounded by cross banding and satinwood inlay. The working door lock features a brass insert around the original key. The base of the clock mirrors the oval design of the long case trunk. The corners of the base are inlaid with satinwood stringing and features splayed bracket feet with a straight apron.

This grandfather clock would have been made when money was no object with the finest mahogany from the British colonies for a wealthy client. It would make an imposing statement in any hallway or dining room. This item would compliment any home so don't miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.

Provenance

Condition Report
In very good condition commensurate with age. The mechanism has recently been restored. The mechanism is in good working order and keeps good time. The case, hood and mechanism are original to each other. The clock has three replacement brass finials. The moon dial, seconds hand, calendar dial all work. We think the door glass has been replaced a long time ago. Original painted face. Original back boards, long case and base. The clock has the original working lock and key for the central door. Considering the age of this item, this clock is in fantastic condition. Free of active wood worm, solid in joint and ready to use.

A 7 day “no quibble” return policy (from the date you receive the item) is available if you are not happy with this item. You will be given a refund as long as the item is returned in the same condition. The buyer is required to cover the cost of transit. We will collect the item using our specialist Furniture Delivery Company to avoid any damage. We will not accept returns via a courier service due to experience of damaged items in transit. This refund policy only applies to deliveries to the UK.
