A socket bayonet model 1853 . The locking ring moves freely and the socket retains a lot of the original bluing, the socket is marked at the top 303 this does not relate to the mussel size it is more likely 577 or 450 . The scabbard leather brass mounted and well marked on brass plus war department arrow with WD on leather.A good example of one of these bayonets
