Early 19th.c. oak longcase clock with eight day works by Moses Evans of Llangernyw in North Wales c.1810. Oak case with faux columns and mahogany crossbanding, swan-neck pediment and brass roundels to the hood. With a clear painted face featuring separate second hand and date display. The works have been cleaned and overhauled and are sold with a twelve month guarantee. Llangernyw is a village in the hills above the Conwy valley, about 10 miles from us here in Llandudno. Moses Evans was a contemporary of the acclaimed Watkin Owen of Llanrwst and the only other clockmaker of note in the Conwy area at the time. He is featured in the book ‘The Clockmakers of Llanrwst’.
