Vintage Coffee Table English Danish Taste, c1960
This is a quality vintage coffee table. An English, rosewood table with Danish influence, after Merrow Associates, dating to the mid 20th century, circa 1960.
Strikingly attractive example of sought-after, mid century furniture
Displays a desirable aged patina with some small age related marks
Quality veneer displays fine grain interest and rich russet hues
Polished chrome supports dazzle in their bright finish
Wide and low profile, ideal for the larger lounge
Pleasingly thick apron with a depth of 6.5cm (2.5'')
Stands upon a pair of square section legs
Unmarked as Merrow, but very much of that oeuvre and quality
Hand-written marking for Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical company to the underside
Lead designer Richard Merrow studied in Copenhagen, influencing his antique furniture aesthetic
Production runs were limited to around 50 units of each design
This is a superb vintage coffee table, graced with a wonderful veneer finish and desirable mid century design. Perfect for the larger lounge. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
