Victorian Taxidermy Pair Red Squirrels Cased
This is an attractive late Victorian taxidermy of a pair of cased Red Squirrels (Sciurus vulgaris) dating from around 1870. The display is of two full mount adults, one climbing a small branch, the other below holding a small nut, both amidst a natural setting of tall dry grasses, ferns and fauna, set against a sky painted backdrop, enclosed within a period ebonised three glass display case raised upon a platform base. The case measures 48 cms by 48 cms by 14 cms deep.
