Silver pair cases - Joseph Green, London, c1725
MOVEMENT Gilt verge movement, with engraved and pierced balance cock and plate. Signed and numbered (26). Particularly fine engraving with wonderful mask on the balance cock neck. All in good original condition except for some wear/rubbing to the engraving on the plate under the balance cock (only really visible to the right of the cock). Running well.
DIAL Fine silver champleve dial in good condition. Signed “GREEN, LONDON” and with a very unusual mask engraved within the central disk. Nice beetle and poker hands, the minute hand is particularly fine.
INNER CASE Silver, no hallmarks, but maker's mark IP. In very good condition, though the stem and bow may be later. The hinge is fine and the bezel closes well. High dome bull's eye crystal in good condition.
OUTER CASE Silver pair case. Again no hallmarks, but matching maker's mark IP. The hinge is fine and the case closes though the catch button has worn down. There are a few very small bruises on the back and one on the bezel near the catch, but in overall very good condition.
Joseph Green is listed in London after 1713, and is recorded in the Clockmakers Company between 1723 and 1727.
Free worldwide postage.
Payments by cheque, bank transfer, credit & debit cards and Paypal accepted.
