Scottish verge pocket watch, Kirkaldy, 1785
Benjamin Innes, Kirkaldy, 1785
Silver pair cases, 51 mm
Verge movement
A mid 18th century Scottish verge.
MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with nicely engraved and pierced balance cock, blued screws, four round pillars, and silver regulator disk. Signed (Benj. Innes, Kirkaldy) and numbered (39). Good condition throughout, and running well.
DIAL : Classic mid 18thc white enamel dial in good condition, with no repairs but slight damage around the edge at 3 and 11. Good 18thc steel beetle and poker hands.
INNER CASE : Silver, with London hallmarks for 1785, maker IL. In generally good condition though the stem is bent slightly backwards, distorting the top of the case behind the hinge. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut. The high dome, bull's eye crystal is also fine.
OUTER CASE : Silver pair case with marks matching the inner. In good condition with just some light bruises and scratches to the back, though the catch button has been replaced with a later brass stud. The catch itself and hinge are fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly.
Free worldwide postage.
Payments by cheque, bank transfer, credit & debit cards and Paypal accepted.
